Your guide meets you for an early start on the full-day journey southwest to Bwindi. Prepare for an 8–10 hour drive through Uganda’s stunning countryside, passing tea plantations, terraced hills, and lively roadside markets where you’ll glimpse everyday Ugandan life. Stop en route for a traditional lunch before winding into the highlands bordering Bwindi’s mist-shrouded forest. Settle into your lodge for an evening of rest and anticipation.

After an early breakfast, join your ranger for a briefing before heading into the forest. The trek can last from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements, but every step is filled with the sounds of birdsong, rustling leaves, and the thrill of anticipation. Suddenly, the forest opens to reveal a gorilla family of gentle giants feeding, grooming, and playing just meters away. Spending one hour in their presence is humbling, unforgettable, and transformative. Return to the lodge to relax, share stories, or take a guided village walk.

Enjoy a slow breakfast as the mist lifts over the forest. Your journey back north retraces the scenic landscapes, with a lunch stop in Mbarara. Arrive in Entebbe or Kampala by evening, where your guide bids you farewell at the hotel or airport.
