Your guide meets you for an early start on the full-day journey southwest to Bwindi. Be prepared for an 8–10 hour drive through Uganda’s stunning countryside, passing tea plantations, terraced hills, and lively roadside markets. Stop en route for a traditional lunch before winding into the highlands bordering Bwindi’s mist-shrouded forest. Settle into your lodge and prepare for the trek of a lifetime.
Rise with the forest. After a ranger briefing, trek into Bwindi’s dense jungle, alive with birdcalls and rustling primates. Your reward: an hour in the company of mountain gorillas feeding, grooming, and playing within arm’s reach. The intimacy of this encounter is unforgettable, one of the most profound wildlife experiences on Earth. Return to the lodge for rest, or opt for a guided cultural walk in the nearby community.
After breakfast, journey north to Queen Elizabeth NP. The Ishasha sector is renowned for its tree-climbing lions, often draped across fig branches in the afternoon sun. Enjoy your first game drive here, scanning for elephants, antelope, and big cats against a backdrop of broad savannah and acacia woodland.
Begin the day with a sunrise game drive across Kasenyi Plains, where lions stalk kob herds and elephants roam with dignity. Later, board a boat for the Kazinga Channel cruise, gliding past pods of hippos, yawning crocodiles, and dazzling flocks of kingfishers and pelicans. This waterway is one of East Africa’s richest concentrations of wildlife.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking the savannah. Your guide leads you on the return drive to Entebbe (7–8 hours), retracing Uganda’s scenic landscapes. Arrive by evening for your onward flight or overnight stay, carrying memories of gorillas in the mist and lions in the treetops.
