Itinerary

1

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrival in Kigali. Today, you will be picked up by a driver/guide and transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay. You will receive a briefing about the tour and all the information you need to know for the next day.

Day 2: Exploring Kigali

After breakfast, enjoy a day exploring Kigali. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a sobering and moving tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide. Next, explore the vibrant local markets, where you can buy crafts and souvenirs. In the afternoon, you can visit the Inema Arts Center to view contemporary Rwandan art and meet local artists.

Day 3: Kigali to Kisoro

In the early morning, your Pathfinder will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali at 6:00 a.m., and then you will leave for Kisoro, Uganda. The journey takes you through scenic landscapes and rolling hills known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” After a lunch stop en route, you will arrive in Kisoro by the evening. Here, you’ll stay at the historic Travellers Rest Hotel, offering a cozy retreat for tourists coming to see the mountain gorillas.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking

This is the day of gorilla tracking. From Travellers Rest in Kisoro, it is about one hour and 20 minutes by car to the Nkuringo group or Rushaga area, home to the Nshongi, Mishaya, Kahungye, and Bweza groups in southern Bwindi, and 40 minutes to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Once there, you will first receive a briefing at 7:45 a.m., and at 8:30 a.m. you will start the tracking. Once you have found the gorillas, you will be able to spend up to one hour with them! All visitors are expected to be back at the starting point by 7:00 p.m. The walks can take 3 to 9 hours, depending on where you find the gorillas. It is a real hike, and being physically fit is recommended.

Day 5: Kisoro to Kigali

After breakfast, the journey back to Kigali begins. You’ll pass through scenic landscapes and cross the border back into Rwanda. Enjoy a lunch stop en route and arrive back in Kigali in the late afternoon. Spend your last evening in Kigali, reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past few days.

Day 6: Departure from Kigali

Depending on your departure time, you might have the opportunity to explore more of Kigali or relax at your hotel. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the airport for your departure flight.
