You will be picked up from the airport or your hotel and taken to your accommodation in Kasese.

Day 1: Nyakalengijja to Nyabitaba Hut

You will meet your guide at the camp for a briefing before heading to RMS headquarters. Begin your trek from Nyakalengija through Bakonzo settlements to the park gate for registration. Start the central circuit trail trek through thick tropical forest with high elephant grass and dense bushes, home to various animal species including forest elephants, chimpanzees, and monkeys, as well as numerous bird species. The hike covers about 8 km to Nyabitaba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Nyabitaba to John Matte Hut

Following breakfast, continue your hike through thick shrubs and forest to the Kurt Shafer bridge, then through bamboo and montane forests. Expect to see various bird species along the way. Stop for lunch at Nyamulejju rock shelter, with views of Mount Stanley and Mount Speke. Continue through alpine forest to John Matte Hut, near River Bujuku, for dinner and overnight. The hike covers about 11 km.

Day 3: John Matte to Bujuku Hut

Begin the day by crossing River Bujuku and trekking through the lower Bigo bog, home to giant lobelias. Continue through the upper Bigo bog to Lake Bujuku, and then through a small boggy area to Bujuku Hut. Enjoy views of Lake Bujuku, Mount Speke, Mount Baker, and Mount Stanley. The hike covers about 5 km. Dinner and overnight at Bujuku Hut.

Day 4: Bujuku to Elena Hut

Today’s hike takes you through the upper Bigo bog and steep slopes of Lake Bujuku to Elena Hut. Ascend to the Scott-Elliot pass at 4,372 meters, then proceed to the thrilling Ground gully and use a metal ladder to navigate a steep section. The trail splits, with one path leading to Kitandara Lakes and the other to Elena Hut. Dinner and overnight at Elena Hut, situated on the rocky part of Mount Stanley.

Day 5: Elena Hut to Kitandara

An early start is essential today. Prepare for the climb to the top of Mount Stanley, Magherita Peak. Use ropes and ice axes on the glacial parts. After reaching the top, enjoy views of Ireen Lake and surrounding peaks. Descend to Elena Hut for lunch, then continue to Kitandara through the Scott Elliot pass. Dinner and overnight at Kitandara Hut. If you opt out of climbing Mt. Stanley, you can combine days 4 and 5 into a single day and take a different trail from Bujuku Hut to Kitandara Lake Hut.

Day 6: Kitandara to Guy Yeoman Hut

Following your morning meal, trek through the base of Mount Baker, which can be slippery. Ascend steeply from Kitandara to Freshfield Pass, then continue the long muddy descent to Guy Yeoman Hut, located at the banks of River Mubuku. Dinner and overnight at Guy Yeoman Hut.

Day 7: Guy Yeoman to Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija

Descend through bamboo forests from Guy Yeoman to Nyabitaba. The path can be slippery and requires careful balancing. Stop for lunch at Nyabitaba Hut, then continue the descent to Nyakalengija. Upon arrival, you may drive back to Kampala or stay overnight in Kasese town.
